    Summary

    Diltiazem, a calcium channel blocker, significantly improved exercise performance in patients with chronic stable angina by increasing exercise duration and delaying symptom onset. Long-term use also maintained these benefits.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the effects of diltiazem on exercise performance in patients with chronic stable angina.
    • To compare diltiazem's efficacy against a placebo.

    • Ten patients with chronic stable angina participated over 7 weeks.
    • Diltiazem administered at 120, 180, and 240 mg/day.
