Spinach calmodulin: isolation, characterization, and comparison with vertebrate calmodulins

    Summary

    Calmodulin, a calcium-binding protein, was isolated from spinach and found similar to vertebrate versions in function but different in structure. This suggests plant and animal calmodulin structures are not highly conserved across eukaryotes.
