A one-stage correction of mandibular defects using a split sternum pectoralis major osteo-musculocutaneous transfer

Abstract:
This paper describes a technique of mandibular reconstruction using the sternal skin and the outer table of the sternum transferred as a compound osteo-musculocutaneous flap based on the pectoralis major muscle. The technique has been used for immediate reconstruction at the time of cancer ablation but it can equally well be used as a delayed reconstructive procedure.
