    Background:

    • Meniere's disease is a disorder of the inner ear.
    • It is characterized by episodes of vertigo, tinnitus, and hearing loss.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the relationship between plasmatic hyperosmolality and Meniere's disease.
    • To determine if plasmatic hyperosmolality is associated with vertiginous attacks.

    Main Methods:

    • A study was conducted on 55 subjects with Meniere's disease.
    • Plasmatic osmolality was measured in patients.
    • The presence of hyperosmolality (300 mOsm./L or higher) was noted.
    • Correlation with vertiginous attacks was assessed.

    Main Results:

    • 15 out of 55 patients (27.3%) exhibited plasmatic hyperosmolality.
    • 6 patients with hyperosmolality were experiencing a vertiginous attack.
    • Statistical analysis revealed significant differences in hyperosmolality during and after Meniere's disease crises.

    Conclusions:

    • Plasmatic hyperosmolality may be a contributing factor or indicator in Meniere's disease.
    • Further research is warranted to explore the pathophysiological link between hyperosmolality and Meniere's disease attacks.
