[Pancreatitis in obstruction of Vater's ampulla]

Clinical observations of 478 patients operated for pancreatitis resulting from different obturating lesions of the Vater papilla (stones, cicatricial stenosis, polyps etc.) are analyzed. The questions of diagnosis, preoperative preparation, medical methods, technique of the operation and postoperative management are discussed. Recommendations are given for the improvement of results of the treatment and the decrease of postoperative lethality.
