[Course of twin pregnancies after foetal death in utero (author's transl)]
Premature foetal death in utero of a twin with continued pregnancy and birth after a lapse of at least 12 hours, is a relatively rare occurrence. This was recorded at the University Gynecological Clinic in Basel in 13 women within the last nine and a half years, representing a frequency rate of 0.07% in relation to the total number of births, or 6.8% of all twin births. The special circumstances governing these cases are described and compared with reports published in medical literature on similar cases.
