Summary

Spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) exhibit greater beta-cell vulnerability and impaired regeneration after pancreatectomy compared to Wistar-Kyoto rats (WKY). Hyperinsulinemia or insulin resistance may negatively impact beta-cell replication in SHR.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate beta-cell function and replication in SHR versus Wistar-Kyoto rats (WKY) following pancreatectomy.
