Summary

Nerve fibers remain present in recurrent aphthous ulcer lesions, even among inflammatory cells. These nerves contain neurotransmitters, suggesting potential roles in local inflammation and ulcer healing.

  • To investigate the innervation patterns in diseased and healthy oral mucosa of patients with RAUs.
  • To determine the presence and characteristics of nerve fibers within RAU lesions.
