Abstract:
Antiviral antibodies clearly play a role in organ transplantation. The only antibody with a licensed indication for this population is CMVIG; however, the use of HBIG has become the standard of care for those patients at risk for HBV recurrence, and the use of VZIG would appear to be indicated for exposures to varicella-zoster in patients lacking immunity. Future studies defining the role of antiviral antibodies for therapy are necessary, and the role of antibody to prevent the EBV PTLD remains to be explored.
