Stress management for psychiatric patients in a state hospital setting

A stress management protocol was adapted for use with schizophrenia patients. Elements included short group sessions, reinforcement of stress reduction skills, modified breathing and relaxation exercises, and capillary blood-flow monitoring for quick feedback. The patients demonstrated ability to participate in the group and to learn certain stress management techniques adapted to their particular needs.
