Pacemaker assessment and care plans in long-term care

Residents with implanted pacemakers are a real challenge, especially to nurses, in long-term care. The facility is accountable for the quality and timeliness of care and service to the resident. Documenting the physical assessment, developing and implementing a significant plan of care, and monitoring that care, for a resident with a pacemaker, are serious professional nursing responsibilities.
