Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the hypothesis that fluoride exposure is a risk factor for childhood osteosarcoma.
  • To examine the association between various fluoride exposure routes and osteosarcoma incidence.
  • To determine if fluoride exposure has a differential impact on males and females.

Main Methods:

  • A population-based case-control study design was employed in New York State.
  • 130 osteosarcoma cases (age ≤ 24) were matched with controls by birth year and sex.
