  • The majority of patients (61%) were nonobese, and many had normal glucose (79%) and lipid levels (79%).
  • A significant proportion (39%) showed advanced fibrosis or cirrhosis.
  • Severe disease was more common in obese women with diabetes and hyperlipidemia.

  • Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis is a severe, progressive liver disease that can lead to cirrhosis.
