Background:

Observation:

  • A patient with progressive heart failure experienced unrecognized, long-lasting episodes of slow VT.
  • The patient's symptoms did not correlate with perceived VT recurrences.

Findings:

  • Prospective 24-hour ECG analysis and pacemaker Holter data comparison established novel diagnostic criteria for VT detection.
  • These criteria enabled retrospective diagnosis of VT episodes occurring when the patient was outside the hospital.
