    Summary

    Polymerized actin (F-actin) was detected in the epidermis of psoriatic skin lesions but not in normal skin. This finding may offer insights into the development of psoriasis lesions.

    Background:

    • Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition.
    • The cellular mechanisms underlying psoriasis are not fully understood.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the presence and distribution of polymerized actin (F-actin) in psoriatic epidermis.
    • To compare F-actin distribution in lesional psoriatic skin versus normal skin.

    Main Methods:

    • Immunofluorescence technique was employed using specific antibodies.
    • Skin biopsies were obtained from twelve patients with psoriasis.
    • Epidermal layers from lesional and normal skin were analyzed.

    Main Results:

    • Polymerized actin (F-actin) was identified in the peripheral cellular regions of all epidermal layers in psoriatic lesional skin.
    • Normal epidermis from the same individuals did not exhibit this F-actin reactivity.

    • This finding may contribute to understanding the induction and progression of psoriatic lesions.
