Abstract
Purpose:
We used a technique that facilitates the custom contouring of porous polyethylene implants.
Methods:
Bone was was molded in the subperiosteal space of the orbit. The wax then served as a model for free-hand sculpting of the rigid implant.
Results:
Bone wax templates have been used successfully in seven patients with enophthalmos or superior sulcus depression.
Conclusions:
This technique has increased the precision of custom contouring subperiosteal alloplastic implants.
