Refractory immune thrombocytopenia after heart transplantation: a case report

Abstract:
Chronic immune thrombocytopenia responds to steroids and splenectomy in approximately 80% of the patients. Intravenous immunoglobulin, plasmapheresis, combination chemotherapy, and androgens may help in refractory cases. This report describes the course and management of refractory immune thrombocytopenia after heart transplantation.
