Preliminary experience with pulmonary autografts

Summary

The Ross operation, using a pulmonary autograft for aortic valve replacement, showed excellent short-term results in seven patients. This aortic valve surgery achieved 100% survival and symptom improvement without complications.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the preliminary outcomes of the Ross operation for aortic valve replacement.
To assess the safety and efficacy of pulmonary autograft implantation.
To determine the feasibility in a cohort of patients with diverse aortic valve pathologies.

Seven patients underwent aortic valve replacement with a pulmonary autograft (Ross operation).
Procedures included subcoronary implantation or total aortic root replacement.
