Abstract:
The Veress needle was used for instillation of short-term cisplatin-based intraperitoneal chemotherapy in ovarian carcinoma patients who, after completion of systemic postoperative chemotherapy, were clinically in complete remission. A total of 87 instillations were done in 32 patients. Only two not severe complications were encountered. The Veress needle is a safe, convenient, and inexpensive access device especially for short-term intraperitoneal chemotherapy.
