Powerlessness and the hospice client

Powerlessness ia a concept that has unique application to clients who are homebound. In this article, the concept of powerlessness is explored and illustrated through a case study of a hospice client in a large southeastern metropolitan area. Nursing interventions to reduce powerlessness are described, emphasizing ways in which home care provided by a hospice reduces the amount of powerlessness experienced by a client.
