1Sonderkrankenanstalt für Bewegungsstörungen und rheumatische Erkrankungen, Rehabilitationszentrum Laab im Walde/NO.
Abstract:
A lot of facts have to be kept in mind discussing the etiology of osteoarthritis. Thus the therapeutic approach to it depends on its etiology. Different treatments as exercise- and occupational therapy, ergonomics and orthopaedics have to be considered. In this paper especially the range of motion-and occupational therapies are discussed focused on their therapeutic goal for the patients. The goal of them is based upon the activities of daily life, functional capacity and considerations about minimizing further cartilage damage. Details are demonstrated for example in a patient suffering from osteoarthritis of the hip. Other physical treatments and also the spa-treatment are discussed in relation to osteoarthritis "disease".
