Area of Science:

  • Pathology
  • Radiology
  • Oncology

Background:

  • Metaplastic calcification and ossification in breast subcutaneous fat are uncommon.
  • These findings are often misdiagnosed as malignant breast tumors.

Observation:

  • A case study of a 24-year-old female patient with a large metaplastic ossification in her right breast.
  • The ossification was confirmed to be non-neoplastic.

Findings:

  • The patient presented with a significant metaplastic ossification in the breast.
  • Histopathological examination ruled out any neoplastic or malignant components.

Implications:

  • This case expands the understanding of benign breast pathologies.
  • Highlights the importance of accurate diagnosis to differentiate benign ossification from breast cancer.
