Surgical techniques in the dissection and reconstruction of the pulmonary artery
1Department of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgery, Rush Medical College, Chicago, Illinois, USA.
Abstract:
This article discusses technical approaches to the pulmonary artery, as well as techniques used in the pulmonary arterioplasty. Although pulmonary artery reconstruction can be performed now with minimal perioperative morbidity and mortality, the long-term survival rate is still disappointingly low, chiefly because of the development of distant metastases.
