Abstract:
The sacrum and presacral space present a complex and somewhat troublesome area for radiologic evaluation but are of considerable significance in disease processes of interest to oncology, neurosurgery, and orthopedic surgery. The multiplanar capabilities of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be employed to define fracture pathology and neoplastic destruction alike. Some alternate MRI anatomic planes are presented and explored in normal volunteers and in 30 random clinical cases.
