Summary

This study shows that propofol and fentanyl anesthesia is safe for Duchenne muscular dystrophy patients. The technique allows for quick recovery of consciousness and breathing independence without heart complications.

  • Oxygen/nitrous oxide in controlled mandatory ventilation (CMV) was used without any myorelaxants.

Findings:

  • The implemented anesthesia technique was found to be both safe and practical.
  • The patient experienced a rapid recovery of consciousness post-operation.
  • Ventilatory autonomy was achieved quickly with no observed cardiovascular complications.

Implications:

  • This anesthetic approach offers a viable and safe option for managing DMD patients.
  • The avoidance of myorelaxants may contribute to improved respiratory recovery.
  • Further research could explore this technique in a larger cohort of DMD patients.
