A new method for spectrophotometric determination of thiomersal in biologicals

Abstract:
A coloured complex formed with thiomersal by the action of dithizone, acetone, water and sodium hydroxide has been described and developed to quantitate even less than a microgram of thiomersal in biologicals. The method is simple, specific, easy to carry out, consumes little time and requires a few microlitres of sample. The results are reproducible.
