    Background:

    • Understanding admission criteria is vital for prospective students.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To identify and analyze the selection criteria used by graduate nurse anesthesia educational programs (GNAEPs).
    • To provide insights into the factors influencing student admission into these programs.

    Main Methods:

    • A 15-item questionnaire was distributed to 71 GNAEPs.
    • Data were collected from 38 participating GNAEPs regarding admission requirements and student metrics.

    Main Results:

    • Mean Graduate Record Exam scores: Analytical 533, Quantitative 512, Verbal 510, Cumulative 1,552. Mean Miller Analogies Test score: 47.
    • Mean GPAs: Overall 3.32, Science 3.20. Average critical care nursing experience: 5 years.
    • Common prerequisites include organic/biochemistry. All programs require references; 97% require interviews; 68% require essays. Acceptance rate was 22%.

    Conclusions:

    • Overall GPA, interviews, and science GPA are key factors in GNAEP admissions.
    • Programs emphasize academic achievement and relevant experience for selecting nurse anesthesia students.
