Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the effect of early rheumatoid arthritis (RA) on patients' work status.
  • To identify factors associated with work disability in early RA.

  • Examined employment status in 119 patients with pre-onset jobs.
  • Compared patients with and without work disability based on disease characteristics, treatment, education, and age.

  • 62% of patients experienced work disability; 42% left their jobs.
