Migraine, tension headache and left-handedness

The Geschwind-Behan hypothesis, that migraine is more common among left-handed patients, was tested in 320 migraine sufferers. The frequency of left-handedness was also assessed in 68 tension headache patients and compared to that in 140 healthy controls. No significant differences were observed. This study failed to support the association between migraine, tension headache and left-handedness using the IHS classification of headache.
