Summary

Simultaneous defecography and peritoneography can diagnose enterocele and peritoneocele in patients with defecation disorders. This combined imaging technique is safe and effective for visualizing peritoneal outlines during defecation.

Background:

Defecation disorders require accurate diagnosis through physiologic and radiologic investigations.
Defecography is crucial, but diagnosing enterocele can be challenging.
Unexplained rectovaginal space widening at defecography necessitates further investigation.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess the technical feasibility of simultaneous defecography and peritoneography.
To enhance diagnostic capabilities for defecation disorders.
To differentiate enterocele from peritoneocele.

Main Methods:

Twelve patients with defecation disorders and unexplained rectovaginal widening underwent the procedure.
Intraperitoneal contrast medium was administered.

The combined procedure was technically successful and complication-free in all patients.
