Area of Science:

  • Plastic Surgery
  • Otorhinolaryngology
  • Surgical Innovation

Background:

  • Prominent ear deformities affect self-esteem and require effective correction.
  • Traditional otoplasty techniques can be invasive and complex.
  • A need exists for simpler, less invasive prominent ear correction methods.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To present a simplified, knifeless surgical technique for correcting prominent ears.
  • To evaluate the efficacy and safety of this novel otoplasty method.

Main Methods:

  • A knifeless otoplasty technique involving needle scoring of cartilage.
  • Application of subcutaneous and transcartilaginous nonabsorbable permanent sutures.
  • Evaluation of outcomes in 11 consecutive cases.

Main Results:

  • Successful correction of prominent ears in all 11 cases.
  • No major complications reported during the follow-up period.
  • The technique demonstrated consistent and satisfactory aesthetic results.

Conclusions:

  • The simplified, knifeless otoplasty technique is effective and safe for prominent ear correction.
  • Needle scoring combined with permanent sutures offers a viable alternative to traditional methods.
  • This approach provides a less invasive option for otoplasty with durable outcomes.
