[Intrascrotal epidermal cyst: a case report]

Summary

A rare case of a large epidermal cyst in the scrotum was surgically removed from a 37-year-old male. This intrascrotal epidermal cyst, weighing 220g, is an uncommon finding with few reported instances.

Background:

A 37-year-old male presented with a significant right scrotal mass.
The mass was elastic, hard, and fist-sized, necessitating surgical intervention.

Observation:

Surgical exploration revealed a large tumor, weighing 220g and measuring 13x8x8 cm.
The tumor was distinct from the testis and epididymis, indicating an intrascrotal origin.

Findings:

Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of an epidermal cyst of the intrascrotum.
This condition is exceptionally rare, with only 13 previous cases documented in Japan.

Implications:

This case highlights the possibility of large epidermal cysts occurring within the scrotum.
