Classical galactosemia (GALC) causes variable cognitive deficits in children and adults, impacting speech, memory, and visual processing. Neurologic abnormalities are common but unrelated to disease severity or treatment timing.

Background:

  • Classical galactosemia (GALC) is an inherited metabolic disorder.
