Benign intracerebellar cyst without epithelial lining

Summary

A rare benign intracerebellar cyst caused progressive neurological deficits in a 61-year-old woman. Biopsied cyst walls showed normal cerebellar tissue, highlighting this uncommon condition.

Background:

Benign intracerebellar cysts are exceptionally rare neurological conditions.
Cerebellar cysts can present with progressive neurological deficits, mimicking other pathologies.

Observation:

A 61-year-old female presented with progressive neurological deficits.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and intraoperative assessments ruled out neoplastic growth.
Biopsied cyst wall tissue was histologically confirmed as normal cerebellar tissue.

Findings:

The case confirms a benign intracerebellar cyst as the cause of the patient's symptoms.
Histopathological analysis of the cyst wall revealed unremarkable cerebellar parenchyma.
