Monitoring post-operative effects in day-surgery patients

This study was undertaken in the day surgical unit to ascertain the morbidity following herniorrhaphy in adult patients. The results showed a reduction in recovery time of 50 minutes when bupivacaine hydrochloride was used. Interestingly, patients given diclofenac sodium and bupivacaine hydrochloride showed no difference in the pain experienced post-operatively from those given only bupivacaine hydrochloride.
