Summary

This study reports three cases of breast striae distensae developing after augmentation mammoplasty in young, nulliparous women. These findings highlight a previously undescribed complication following breast augmentation surgery.

Background:

  • Augmentation mammoplasty is a common cosmetic procedure.
  • Striae distensae, or stretch marks, can occur due to skin stretching.

Observation:

  • Three young, nulliparous patients developed striae distensae on their breasts within months of augmentation mammoplasty.
  • The striae appeared in the operated breast areas.

Findings:

  • This is the first reported instance of striae distensae occurring subsequent to augmentation mammoplasty.
  • The development of striae may be linked to the rapid tissue expansion or changes associated with the implants.

Implications:

  • Clinicians should be aware of this potential complication after breast augmentation.
