Abstract:
The authors sum up an experience with treatment of 87 patients with Meckel's diverticulum which was the cause of an acute surgical pathology in 66 patients, chronic disease in 5 cases and 16 patients had no alterations. Special attention is called to differential diagnostic problems in the preoperative diagnosing. The volume of operation must depend on the alterations and specific anatomy of the diverticulum, on the degree of involvement of the intestine wall in the pathological process as well as on the character of the arising complications. The nearest and long-term results of the operations are analyzed.
