Summary

Oxygen delivery methods were compared in intensive care patients. A nasal catheter with a foam collar and a Hudson mask provided higher partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) than nasal cannulae.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare the efficacy of different oxygen delivery devices in intensive care unit (ICU) patients.
  • To evaluate oxygenation parameters (PaO2, PaCO2, SpO2) with Hudson mask, nasal cannulae, and a novel nasal catheter with foam collar.
  • To assess patient comfort and compliance with various oxygen delivery methods.
