Published on: January 7, 2019
Abstract:
The concept of the nurse as an independent practitioner may be ambiguous and misleading. Even in recent nursing publications the concepts of dependence, interdependence and independence were used to describe the practice of the nurse. This however is not logical or justifiable. The aim of this article is to describe the nurse as an independent practitioner who functions as a member of the health team within the legal-ethical framework of nursing.
