Cortisol status in different types of leprosy

Summary

Basal plasma cortisol levels were normal in leprosy patients, but lower in multibacillary leprosy, possibly due to adrenal exhaustion. However, adrenal reserve remained intact, as shown by ACTH stimulation tests.
