Assessing counselling skills in nurse education

Nurses frequently employ counselling skills in their work. Competent practice in counselling is achieved by self-exploration, supervised work, acquiring skills and the study of theory. Competence can be assessed by trainers, managers, supervisers, external judges, peers, the counsellor or the client.
