Cleft larynx: repair with a posterior cartilage graft

A 4-year-old child presenting with airway obstruction caused by oedema in redundant mucosa associated with an Evans Type 2 laryngeal cleft had the cleft repaired via a laryngofissure. The defect in the posterior lamina of the cricoid cartilage was repaired with a costal cartilage graft to produce a near normal post-operative contour to the subglottic lumen.
