Ultraviolet (UV) light can delay mutations at the glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) locus in Chinese hamster cells for up to 11 cell divisions. This suggests UV-induced DNA alterations can increase spontaneous mutation frequency long-term.
