Summary

This study presents a case of advanced vaginal carcinoma with uterine prolapse. Radiotherapy was successfully used to treat the cancer and retract the prolapse, achieving a no-evidence-of-disease stage.

  • Radiotherapy achieved a no-evidence-of-disease (NED) stage for the vaginal carcinoma.
  • The radiotherapy treatment also resulted in significant retraction of the total uterine prolapse.
  • Successful management of both extensive vaginal carcinoma and uterine prolapse was achieved with radiotherapy.

Implications:

  • Radiotherapy can be an effective primary treatment for vaginal carcinoma even in the presence of total uterine prolapse.
  • This approach offers a viable alternative to surgery, particularly in select patient populations.
  • The findings suggest that radiotherapy can lead to favorable oncological outcomes and anatomical improvement in complex gynecologic cases.
