Effect of carbon- and phosphorus-content on the phosphomonoesterase activity in soil

Abstract:
The root weight of plants grown in the soil increases its phosphomonoesterase activity. This effect is decreasing with time. The effect of soil organic matter content is similar to that of the root, but this is increasing with time. The latter phenomenon is connected with the progress of humification. The inhibitory effect of soluble phosphate on the phosphomonoesterase activity is shown to be significant only after 120 days incubation and can be pointed out only with multiple regression analysis.
