The bridge to cardiac transplantation: ventricular assist devices

Several types of pulsatile Ventricular Assist Devices are now being used to stabilize patients while awaiting cardiac transplant. Because of the progressing design of these devices the nurse needs to understand the different operations and complications for the varying designs and how to prevent complications for these patients.
