[Monotherapy and combined therapy for ischemic heart disease and hypertension by general practitioners]
1Ośrodka Monitorowania Niepozadanych Działań Leków i Informacji o Lekach Instytutu Leków w Warszawie.
Abstract:
The comparative analysis of treatment pattern prescribed by general practitioners (GPs) and cardiologists for ischaemic heart disease and arterial hypertension to 1835 patients was performed. It was found that both cardiologists and GPs followed similar treatment regimens although nitrates were more extensively prescribed by GPs. The effectiveness of treatment evaluated according to standardized criteria was comparable but GPs were less effective in cases where monotherapy was prescribed. The overall reporting of adverse effects of drugs (ADRs) was low.
