Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the morbidity and mortality in 109 newborns undergoing enterostomy for intestinal conditions.
  • To analyze complications related to enterostomy closure in this vulnerable population.

  • Retrospective chart review of 109 newborns (0-28 days) who underwent enterostomy.
  • Analysis of enterostomy types (jejunostomy, ileostomy, colostomy) and closure outcomes.

  • 16% of neonates died postoperatively from sepsis, respiratory distress, or other complications.
