[Lung tumor with unusual metastasis in a cat--a case report]

Metastasis of an adenocarcinoma was diagnosed histologically in a foot pad biopsy of a cat exhibiting progressive locomotion problems, foot pad swelling and nail loosing. A bronchial gland adenocarcinoma was identified as primary tumour at necropsy. Metastases were found in all foot pads, the kidneys and various lymph nodes. A review of the literature and of the own necropsy reports an affinity of bronchial gland carcinoma metastases to skeletal muscles and bones, especially digital bones. Non-respiratory signs as lameness, foot pad swelling and nail loss appear to predominate clinically whereas respiratory signs are observed only in about one third of all cases.
