Abstract:
Laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication is an effective treatment for gastroesophageal reflux. The procedure involves wrapping the gastric fundus around the lower end of the esophagus to augment the lower esophageal sphincter. The procedure offers several advantages over open laparotomy, including smaller abdominal incisions, reduced postoperative discomfort, and shortened postoperative recovery and hospital stays. The laparoscopic approach also reduces the length of time a patient has an ileus.
